Steve, the mayor, was born and raised in Obscurity and will go to great lengths help get the town back on its feet. He is in love with Emily, his father's widow.
Emily, the middle school principal, would like to marry Steve but fears scandal. With the school's low enrollment, she needs a plan to stop it from being closed.
Jim, the sheriff, is a man of few words. Too few, as it turns out, as he gathers his courage to commit to Molly.
Henry, the farmer, works the same land, a large orchard just outside of Obscurity, that his father and grandfather tended. He is full of enthusiasm and schemes to save his beloved town.
